You want to discover Martinique and to avoid crowded touristic places? Come with us!

Go on an adventure in the south part of Martinique for an authentic tour that will offer you the most beautiful views, from a pottery village to a distillery through the unmistakable Diamond Rock.

Product Description

Are you looking for an authentic experience of Martinique? You will have the opportunity to visit six unique locations on this excursion. Take in art, history, architecture, culture, and natural beauty during your time on this Windward Island of the Lesser Antilles in the West Indies.

From cruise port*, or from a central meeting point**, you will discover a nice part of Martinique.

Take in the countryside on the half hour ride to Les Trois Ilets, where the famous pottery village is. Located on a former Jesuit Monastery you will enjoy for 30 minutes the half dozen local artists that have their workshops, you might want to look at the crafts, they are incredibly beautiful and maybe you pick up a great souvenir to take back home.

Re-board the transportation to the second stop, Les Anses d’Arlet, a village in a tranquil cove. Here you may view the recently renovated bell tour of the church that is situated directly in front of the beach. Alternatively, you may choose to sunbath on the fine white sand beach, swim or even snorkel! All snorkel gear is included and you can go right from the beach to see the underwater beauty. You have the chance to see many colorful fish and sea turtles.

Once you have soaked up the sun you will be on your way to a viewpoint overlooking Diamond Rock. The island reflects the light in such a way that it appears to be a giant precious stone, making it a wonderful photographic opportunity. Do not forget your camera.

After you have shot your photos, you will head to Cap 110, a memorial erected in memory of slavery. This Memorial consists of 15 busts of 2.5 meters in height arranged triangularly, to represent the slavery trade triangle between The Americas, Europe and Africa.

After that we will make a stop in a local market to discover local fruits, spices and so much more!

You cannot have had the full experience of Martinique without sampling their famous rum! Your final stop will be at a local rum distillery. At Trois Rivieres Distillery, you will learn about their special white and aged vintage rums that have been on the market since 1976. Enjoy a sample and bottles are available to purchase of your favorite! There are also coconut products available for you purchase. This was a lovely ½ day trip around the southern part of Martinique. Leslie directed our tour in English to accommodate for everyone on the trip. There were 5 of us. We first stopped in a pottery village near Trois-Ilets, and then drove to les Anses d’Arlet to visit the church on the waterfront and snorkel at the beach. There are a few rocks that attract many types of tropical fish and sea turtles. From there, we stopped to view le Rocher du Diamant from the outlook, and the Cap 110 slave memorial in the southwest end. I really appreciated reading about the significance of these two locations. We also visited a local market near plage du Diamant, and ended our excursion at the Trois Rivières Rum Distillery. We had made arrangements to be picked up and dropped off at our resort, which costs a little more, but was well worth it for the convenience. Merci à Leslie!

Leslie was very easy to communicate with prior to cruise and she speaks very good English. Be aware that lots of tour guides at the pier do not speak English very well. We asked for the Southern island tour. Van was very comfortable for a group of six people and she uses a microphone. She took us to the Open Market, a Pottery Village, Les Anses D’Arlet Village to see a very old church, and then on to see the Diamond Rock and then to the Slavery Memorial. The last stop was a Rum Tasting before heading back to the ship. We all agreed it was a very enjoyable day. We were not rushed and there was plenty of time at each stop. We would book with Leslie again.

We had a great time on this tour even though the dates got mixed up the tour company were able to fit us in. We got to see most of the Southern part of the island and did stop in at a two year old Rum distillery and sample some of the best rum i have ever had. By the way take euros with you as they rarely take US money.

The authentic southern tour was an off the beaten tourist route tour, and I loved it. Our guide was able to share the island by sharing his experience on Martinique compared to his experiences living on other Caribbean islands. This provided insight into the culture and daily life of the island’s residents. Also, the small villages were a treat.

We had 2 girls on our tour one drove the other spoke. It was an interesting tour visiting the pottery and cement block factory and some small art stores. We then visited the rum distillery which had beautiful gardens with lots of hummingbirds. The monument of the slaves were mesmerisizing and made you really think of all the hard struggles that they went through.
