This was a great day trip to see the North end of the island! Christelle was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. She had pictures and trivia questions for us along the way. There were only 3 of us on the tour, which made it a very personable experience. We saw some major landmarks in the North including Sacré-Coeur (church). We started with a little sidetrack through banana plantations because of traffic, but we didn’t mind learning about banana production. Then, we drove through Fort-de-France where Christelle pointed out some significant buildings. We drove along Trace road through the rainforest, stopping at the Alma River and Saut Gendarme (waterfall); and saw some of the ruins in Saint-Pierre (former capital of Martinique ruined by the 1902 eruption of Mont Pelée). We also stopped at the Depaz Rum Distillery, where we were able to get up close in seeing how rum is made (even touring inside the factory), and taste a few samples. We ended our trip at a grey sand beach just south of the town. We had a few beautiful views of Mont Pelée from Saint-Pierre at this beach. Christelle’s pastries and homemade treats were delicious! Christelle spoke in French since we are bilingual, and we really thought that this enhanced our experience. I would strongly recommend this day trip. Although there are several suggestions for renting a car, we liked being with someone who knew the island well. The roads, although well kept, are winding with twists and turns as you climb and descend the mountains/valleys. If you’re also not comfortable driving a stick shift, then it is worth budgeting your trip to do a driving tour. Merci à Christelle!

Great taste of what Martinique has to offer

This was one of my favorite tours. Our guide was very friendly and informative. The foods and beverages she shared with us provided a great sample of the great tastes of Martinique. We learned a lot of history and local customs as well. We will likely do this tour again our next time on the island.

Sample of home made food and drinks while touring Martinique.

This is an excellent tour with a wonderful guide. She provides an excellent tour through Martinique and the tropical forest in her 6 person van. The tour title is a little misleading as the food and drink are Martinique samples the guide has personally prepared as there is no restaurant stops. The samples are great and our guide so knowledgeable. Excellent English speaker too. Can miss tour just a different from what was expected.

We had a wonderful time on this tour!! Martinique was one of the stops on our cruise ship and I’m so glad we picked this tour over the ship tours that were offered. It was intimate and very informative. Christelle is so knowledgeable and warm. The food and drinks she provided was yummy and traditional for the area. We had a lot of stops and driving through the lush rainforest was beautiful! If you are thinking of taking this tour, definitely do it!
